How do I know if my business needs a bookkeeper?

How long does onboarding take?

Our standard onboarding takes a maximum of 7 business days. If your books require catch-up or systems migration it may take a little longer we communicate clearly at every stage so you always know what to expect.
How long are service terms?

Service terms are 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. We invest significantly in understanding your business during onboarding, and longer terms allow us to deliver full value. One-time engagements are available for tax filing, historical cleanup, and specific advisory projects.
Are all services remote?

Yes. Cobella Financial is a fully remote firm. All services are delivered virtually using secure cloud-based platforms — which means you have access to our full capabilities regardless of where in Canada your business is located.
My accounting software is not cloud-based. Is that a problem?

Not at all. We can support you through a transition to a cloud-based platform. The migration is handled carefully to preserve your historical records and make the switch seamless.
What is the difference between cash and accrual accounting?
+
Cash basis records revenue when received and expenses when paid. Accrual records revenue when earned and expenses when incurred — regardless of cash movement. For most growing businesses, accrual accounting provides a more accurate picture and is required for audit-compliant financial statements.
Can you work with our existing CPA or accountant?

Absolutely. We operate as your virtual accounting office and work seamlessly alongside your CPA or external accountant. We handle day-to-day financial operations and prepare everything your accountant needs to complete year-end filings efficiently.
How does document and receipt management work?

We integrate directly with your bank and use tools like Dext and HubDoc for digital receipt management. You photograph receipts or forward invoices and they flow into your books automatically. No need to deliver anything in person.
How is my financial data kept secure?

We maintain on-site and off-site backups using end-to-end encrypted solutions that meet ISO 27001, HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, and DPA compliance standards. All documents are stored in designated encrypted folders with tightly controlled access.
How do payments work?

One-time services are paid upon signing the engagement agreement. Ongoing retainer services are invoiced on the 1st of each month. All pricing is transparent and fixed before work begins — no surprise invoices.
How does the process work to get started?

After your consultation call we send an Engagement Agreement detailing scope and terms. Once signed, onboarding begins you are set up with an encrypted folder, we connect to your systems, and work begins within 7 business days.
